In the spirit of helping embody one of our own values, Family Spirit, the Sunshine Committee from Associa Arizona decided to take action in helping support our own colleague's daughter, Lainee Ojeda, during difficult times.

See below for Lainee's full story in her mother’s own words.

"My daughter Lainee, 10 years old and in the 5th grade, has been out of school for almost three months fighting what doctors are now leaning toward IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Her intestines have been obstructed three times, and she has lost a total of 14lbs since January. To get to this diagnosis she has had three blood tests, 2 x-rays, 2 ultrasounds, a CT scan, 6 visits to the pediatrician, and two visits to the Gastrointestinal Specialist at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. This has been very costly as her insurance has limited coverage on testing. To get her feeling better and help her maintain her weight, doctors prescribed a couple of different medications. The insurance she is on does not cover prescriptions resulting in a monthly pharmacy bill that is almost double my car payment. We were not prepared for this type of expense and greatly appreciate The Sunshine Committee and The Associa Family reaching out to extend a helping hand. Many thanks!" - Lauren Ojeda
