Hi, My name is Kim. Three years ago a pandoras box was brought to my home in the form of a broken, 16 year old young lady. We will call her LadyBug. LadyBug had been abused in many ways by most of her brothers most of her life. Her parents have denied what has happened to her. My husband is her oldest half brother and we believe God guided DHS to put LadyBug into our custody for reasons only he knows. We were not prepared for what the next 3 years would hold. The abuse, neglect, lack of education, suicidal thoughts and actions, lack of healthy relationships and several other obstacles have cost LadyBug a lot of pain and heartache with time spent at court, DHS visits, nightmares/night terrors, and countless hours in counseling sessions all while trying to begin the healing process.
We have raised our own child and sent her off to Bible college where she got married and has started her own family, we have a pretty common life and are self employed. The financial losses we have experienced are extreme and every day in court or counseling sessions has caused our doors to be closed, the result being no income each time. While we have worked diligently to get bills caught up and we have been given much grace in slow payments to vendors and landlords we are now current on everything but have no reserves.
LadyBug has taken to the battle of her life and chose to fight for her future despite everything that has happened. In the face of her educational gaps, LadyBug just completed High School, graduating with honors because she made a decision to work at it until she was finished. We are so proud of how well LadyBug has done! We have overcome many relationship issues she has had to deal with as well. LadyBug’s personal growth in the last year has been so unexplainably immense.
Right now LadyBug is considering going into the medical field potentially as a nurse. She just started a job, which she will have to take time off from in order to testify in court. (Last summer she gave us some of her job earnings to pay bills.)
In less than 30 days we will be driving over 4000 miles round trip to go to court for what should be the final time. Our business will be closed for 2-3 weeks for the court proceedings but rent, utilities and other monthly bills will still be due. We are trying earnestly to get all bills paid for the month of July before we leave and gather the funds needed for gas for the drive, food while gone and lodging along the way. These expenses are in excess of $8,000.
Please prayerfully consider how you can help us pay for these expenses. Any amount is one step closer to getting the stress of the expenses alleviated. We ask for monetary gifts, prayers and petitions, words of encouragement and sharing this page with others so they can help however they are able.
