Labor For Standing Rock was created by rank and file workers and union members to bring the labor movement into action to support the First Nation's fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline. In the process, we are mobilizing union members and workers to add our voices and direct presence to the Standing Rock Camp located in North Dakota now.

The response from working people around the country has been nothing short of staggering. It's clear that the labor movement is no longer content to sit aside while the sovereignty of Native Americans is taken and the land and water are risked. No oil company profits are more important than our rights and environment.

This is a moment in history that has the potential to create a powerful change for our civil rights, the environment and for full employment to transition us from fossil fuels and we need your help to build it.

Our rotating crew on-the-ground in Standing Rock has been asked to stay and provide specific support to the Water Protectors. The weather is extremely harsh, and the exterior conditions are changing rapidly. Funds raised through this site provide onsite emergent support for our team and the specific items they are asked to bring or build.

Help us reenergize the labor movement and build the fight for a just and sustainable world.

Please help with whatever donation you can.

Thanks!

UPDATE: We need your help, now more than ever to support Stand Rock's camps prepare for winter.

This week, our on-site crew includes Cliff Willmeng, a registered nurse with UFCW Local 7, a co-founder of Labor for Standing Rock, making his third trip. Cliff will help with on our Winterization Support Project, as well giving some time to the Medic Tent. Also helping to build a winterized camp this week is a delegation from NYC Labor & Community Stand with Standing Rock!

Thanks to you, this will continue the work of Labor for Standing Rock member Liam Cain, a former pipeline worker, who this past week hand delivered thousands of dollars of much needed building materials to winterize the camps.

Liam was able to deliver a 16x32 military surplus tent and a large propane dual burner, both donated to Kul Wicasa kitchen.

Liam Cain, a trade unionist with LIUNA 1271 and IWW EUC, understands that winterizing is part of the long haul resistance. “The folks staying for the winter are inspirational and determined, and coming from Wyoming I recognize the necessity of solid, weatherproof shelter to get through the bitter cold.”

Cain, who has a general background in construction, knows firsthand of the efforts required for the winterization process.

“We were buying things in bulk – 2×4s, plywood, fasteners, screws,” he explains. Cain went on countless supply runs to assist the process. “Our motive was just to plug in with the people already starting the work and help bridge the gaps.” --"Winterizing is Political", Briarpatch Magazine 11/23/16

Labor for Standing Rock has raised our goal to $15,000 https://www.gofundme.com/LaborStandingRock. Winterization supplies are still needed for the camp! Please give what you can!

***************

Construction crews still need cash to winterize shelters that are safe and warm.

The wish list includes:

•Wool blankets/moving blankets for insulating the big tents.
•Mass quantities of fire extinguishers.

Larger items include:

• 2 snowmobiles for medics
• Cement mixer- 4 cubic feet or larger
• General construction tools- circular saws, levels, hammers etc.
• Horse feed- grass hay/alfalfa/grain
• Straw bales- used for insulation, so the 30-40 lb. variety. The local area is scoured clean, so they'd have to be sourced and trucked in. A couple semi-loads effortless disappear here.

UPDATE: THANK-YOU! Because of your quick response to our URGENT request for donations before first snowfall at #StandingRock, our on-the-ground member, former pipeline worker, Liam Cain (LIUNA 1271/IWW EUC) has already purchased and hand-delivered the initial $2,000 worth of materials needed for Standing Rock's Oceti Sakowin Camp winterization project before the first snowfall.
Labor for Standing Rock will continue to raise monies for this project until Liam departs Standing Rock on Monday November 21st, for that purpose we have raised our goal to $10,000 https://www.gofundme.com/LaborStandingRock.
Snow is predicted this weekend. Winterization supplies are needed for the camp! Please give what you can!

Construction crews still need cash of construction supplies lined up to make winter shelters that are safe and warm. Because of you Liam is now hand delivering them to the construction coordinators who've made the requests.
Here's what's on Wish List:
They also have some larger items that are needed as well-
• 2 snowmobiles for medics
•Battery Drill kit- DeWalt or Bosch
•Cement mixer- 4 cubic feet or larger
• General construction tools- circular saws, levels, hammers etc.
• Horse feed- grass hay/alfalfa/grain
•Straw bales- used for insulation, so the 30-40 lb variety. The local area is scoured clean, so they'd have to be sourced and trucked in. I'd estimate a couple semi loads could effortless disappear here.

URGENT REQUEST for DONATIONS before first SNOWFALL at #StandingRock, please give what you can ASAP here:

I'm Liam Cain (LIUNA 1271/IWW EUC), on the ground in Oceti Sakowin, for Labor For Standing Rock, until Monday the 21st of November. There's an urgent winterization process underway, with SNOW FORECAST for the weekend, and winter itself closing in rapidly.
Construction crews need cash at the moment, they have six thousand dollars worth of construction supplies lined up to make winter shelters that are safe and warm, but don't have the cash to purchase them. If we can get some cash donations coming this week, I can hand deliver them to the construction coordinators who've made the requests.
They also have some larger items that are needed as well-
• 2 snowmobiles for medics
•Battery Drill kit- DeWalt or Bosch

This is NOT a "Native American Indian" thing it is a human thing PLEASE stop the pipeline on Sacred land and so close to nuclear site! This affects everyone and the unions (AFL-CIO) are also in this (not necessarily the big wigs) but the people! Have no fear - Our Creator is always near... peace.

It's exciting to see the labor movement backing this great struggle. If we can unite the many we can defeat the few.
