Leadership, Fellowship & Service Awards
The brothers of the Alpha Gamma Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity at CUNY Hunter College are creating this scholarship because as college students ourselves, we each have had diverse journeys, which have brought us to Hunter College. What brought a diverse group of individuals to come together and work towards one cause is the values we believe in as a collective"”being a leader, being a friend, and being of service to humanity. As such, it is understood that growth and expansion is a deliberate process and must be present in all aspects of our lives. Our chapter respects the importance of investing in others as well as ourselves. We hold conscious growth to be crucial to the development of character.
As a national organization, Alpha Phi Omega has spread the aforementioned values of developing leadership, promoting friendship and being of service to all. Similarly, the Alpha Gamma Gamma chapter at Hunter College wishes to utilize and share the resources we have obtained as leaders with a deserving high school student entering college and a student currently in college. We wish to help two students who have dedicated their efforts to others while aspiring for higher education themselves. It is our aim that through this scholarship, we will honor future leaders who share our devotion and compassion for community service in all its forms.
This year we are launching this project, and the scholarships we award would be a part of what we hope to be a long and rewarding tradition. As a result of a focused and compassionate effort to foster a tradition that honors the importance of service and the need of high education, we hope with your help we can become successful in our endeavors. Our chapter in particular strives to serve our own diverse communities as well as respecting all other collegial institution's contribution to the improvement of self. As college students and as a chapter it is our pledge to encourage others entering college to explore leadership, friendship and service in the world outside the classroom, along with those in college to feel supported in their efforts of graduating college, which has become a recent national concern. We would like to create a nurturing and supportive inheritance that others may carry on in the name of leadership, friendship and service.
