**The Ken Buchanan MBE Foundation has been set up to honour the world class achievements of Ken. All donations to this account will go to the Foundation and not to Ken personally**

KEN BUCHANAN is widely regarded as one of Britain’s greatest ever boxers!

Born and brought up in Edinburgh, he still fondly calls the Scottish Capital his home.

A true Scottish boxing legend, Ken deserves a statue in his hometown in his honour. It will inspire generations for years to come and celebrate his world class sporting achievements...

THEN
* He WON his first 33 professional fights...

1970
* He became WBA WORLD LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION in 1970, defeating Ismael Laguna in Puerto Rico...
* In that year he was the AMERICAN BOXING WRITERS' ASSOCIATION'S FIGHTER OF THE YEAR,  ahead of boxers like Ali and Frazier...

1971
* In 1971 he defeated Ruben Navarro in Los Angeles to become the only British BOXER OF THE YEAR  at the American Edward & Neil Award....
*And became the UNDISPUTED WORLD LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION, UNDEFEATED EUROPEAN CHAMPION and UNDEFEATED BRITISH CHAMPION...

1972
* Many will remember Ken Buchanan’s 1972 FIGHT against the great ROBERTO DURAN at Madison Square Gardens, when Ken suffered a controversial low punch in round 13...

AND NOW

In 2000 Ken was the first living  British boxer to be elected to the INTERNATIONAL BOXING HALL OF FAME.

Ken has a well documented past since retiring from boxing and now, we want to raise money for a fitting tribute in his hometown to  his world class achievements- but we need your help!

Together, we can raise enough money for a statue. The Ken Buchanan MBE Foundation will live on and it is our long-term aim to help sponsor or otherwise support young people in Scotland showing promise in boxing or other sports or athletic events.

The Trust will promote and encourage the participation by children, including but without limitation children with disabilities or special needs, in sport in Edinburgh and Leith.

Donations will also be made to charities for children and participation in sport.

It is our intention to hold boxing nights and other fund-raising events in support of the Foundation - please like our Facebook page  to receive updates on events.
