Keep Mavi Walking!

Mavi (left)is the runt puppy of a German Shepherd litter, with a large mouth deformity in the form of a very large overbite. He was extremely malnourished as a puppy because he couldn't suckle, and I took him in and helped him grow and regain his strength.


It took about 11 months for his weight to finally catch up, and the process to recovery was a long one. He had protruding ribs for a very long time. But now he has  a fun and active life!


Unfortunately, bad luck has struck us once again. Mavi is only 1 1/2 years old, and his left elbow is beginning to fail. He is becoming lame, and needs to undergo treatment immediately in order to help him long term.


He is still so very much full of energy. He still wants to run and jump and bound and play and travel, and if we want to continue giving him the happiest life he can, we need to get his treatment.


 I only work as volunteer and do not currently make income. This is a huge issue for us as we cannot sustain paying for his treatment. 

LATEST UPDATE: Thanks to the many donations we received, Mavi had his surgery on July 4th, and came home the following day. Unfortunately, not all of the surgery was paid for, and I had to use my own funds to pay off the remaining bill. This has significantly affected what we have for basic food and electric, so if we can get aid in paying that little extra back, we'd be immensely grateful.

As of 13th July, Mavi has had a second X-Ray because his recovery is not going as well as the vets had hoped. This will cost once more, and is seriously hindering what savings I have in general for food. Please understand we are getting desperate for help paying this back. Thank you for your time.

[ Old-Edit: Mavi has, as of 8th June 2018, been diagnosed with Ununited Anconeal Process (UAP) - one of three types of Elbow Dysplasia, along with Arthritis, in both of his elbows. His left is more severe and must be treated first. His right needs the same treatment after his left elbow heals. You can read more about this condition here. 

Here are the current costs of treatment. This will be updated frequently as we figure out the steps he will be expected to take:

- X-Ray = £313 
- Pet Travel (I do not live close to the vets or have any form of transport other than taxi) = £45
- Arthroscopy (checking both of his elbows) = £300
- Surgical removal of fragment bone (in left elbow) = £480

The total is £1138.

I took Mavi in because he needed a home where he wasn't expected of much other than to live his life happy, and now even this is hard to commit with his declining health.

Please help us keep Mavi walking for many more years to come, he's too young and full of life to have his mobility cut short so soon!
