Friends and Family of Kathryn, 
As many of you know, Kathryn was recently rushed to the hospital after having a seizure and was immediately operated on when MRIs indicated there was a tumor in her brain.  The Santa Fe doctor partially removed the mass and diagnosed Kathryn with brain cancer, with 6 months-2 years estimated life expectancy.

Obviously devastated by this shocking news, Kathryn began searching for a more promising solution which would extend her life expectancy and give her many more happy and healthy years with her daughter, who just graduated from high school, and teenage son.

As miracles would have it, Kathryn's aunt had a somewhat similar condition years ago and was treated by a world-renowned doctor in California, and is alive and well today.  This top-notch California doctor has reviewed Kathryn's file and has determined there's a significant amount of the mass which was left in her brain, so a second surgery will be required to remove the remaining mass.  The AMAZING news is once the second surgery is complete and he's able to administer his treatment plan, the well-known California doctor is confident Kathryn will have a good 30 years to live!

The unfortunate issue is that insurance won't pay for any surgery unless it's performed by an in-state New Mexico doctor.  (New Mexico is not known for it's stellar medical care and they've only given her an approximation of 2 years to live with their proposed care.)

The famous California doctor's surgery has been estimated to cost $215,000.  As they say, you can't put a price on life, but in this case the extra 28+ years looks like it will have a hefty price tag.

Kathryn is an artist with two amazing kids, whom she raises on a very meager income.  Prior to this medical news Kathryn was already struggling to support her family financially.  Now that she's been diagnosed, Kathryn hasn't had the ability to paint at her normal capacity, spending almost all her time consumed with battling the insurance company and trying to get proper treatment and a reliable diagnosis. Painting is her only source of income.  The doctors forbid her from driving any vehicle, as her seizures have increased and she must have adult accompaniment during all hours of the day and night.  These factors have limited her income-making potential and have made medical bills insurmountable.

While Kathryn's pocketbook may be empty, her heart overflows with love, kindness and compassion.  Everyone who knows Kathryn loves her caring and sweet soul.  She's one of the bright lights in this world! 

Your prayers, caring words and loving thoughts have been felt and received with much gratitude.  As you can imagine, this has been an extremely tough time for Kathryn and the support she's received helped greatly.
