Fighting Childhood Obesity

Donation protected

Studies from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), show that the percentage of childhood obesity has tripled since the 1970’s. This has led to numerous cases of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer in our youth communities. As graduating seniors, from Kent State University, we have come to realize the importance of childhood obesity awareness and prevention.
Our goal is to raise $500 dollars for the King Kennedy Community Center (KKCC), located in Ravenna, Ohio. Since 1978, KKCC has been helping children and adults achieve their highest potential, by providing resources and opportunities including: after school tutoring, field trips, health fairs, mentoring programs, outdoor activities, senior meals, summer programs, volunteer and internship opportunities, holiday events, and much more.
Donations to this organization will help provide nutritional meals to students after school and help with any other needs of KKCC.  The biggest beneficiary will be the students who come to the center, as well as the communities surrounding the center.
