for Ko-Falen Cultural Center
Ko-Falen Cultural Center is a non-profit working in the US and Mali, W. Africa. It is the dream of founder Baba Wague Diakite to create greater understanding and respect between people of differing cultures through exchanges.

One of our most successful campaigns has been our free tutoring program at the Ko-Falen Cultural Center in Bamako, Mali. Last year, thanks to generous donations, we began building a two-classroom Tutoring Center to accommodate our growing number of eager students. (Link to  https://kofalen.org/center/tutoring-center-in-the-mango-grove/
to see photos of the building in process.)

With your help, this year we will raise the remaining $10,000 needed to complete the Tutoring Center, which will include a facility with toilet/septic system and safe drinking water for all of our students and their families.

Please give to this most deserving project that has helped young boys and girls from the most underserved communities move into the school system and rise to the top of their class!  Your tax deductible donations will be happily received through September 22nd, 2016 (Mali Independence Day).

We give a resounding THANK YOU to all who have given to this campaign. The KF Tutoring Center is alive! This coming year, we will drill a potable well at the Center for students and their families . Please read on to hear the THANK YOU from our Head Tutor Modibo in Mali:
"Now we have a beautiful Tutoring Center to expand our offerings to the older students. We are filled with gratitude and pride to begin our new school year in this new building.
We remain committed and focused on the underserved children in our neighborhood. The parents of students attending our tutoring program feel fortunate. We are giving these most deserving families relief and peace of mind. And most importantly, we are giving their children hope."

Just four days left to give to our fundraiser! Paul Ries, KF board member has this to share:
"It has been over 4 years since I’ve returned from Bamako and my time at the Ko-Falen Cultural Center. In these hectic times, one can assume that any memories from that long ago are ancient history. For the most part however, the memories have formed deep associations within me and live strong still. The strongest of those memories, you ask? The Children.

I never tired of their joy and mischievousness that overlaid their enterprising spirit and exuberance for life. And their curiosity! Watching them arrive in the morning and start work in the classroom with Teacher Modibo was a daily treat.

Much has been written in the previous updates about the tutoring center and what it means to the children’s’ future, their families, and the neighborhood at large. What it means every day to the children is something much more immediate, seeming to allow them an ever-growing level of confidence that they take out to their world daily.

We are nearing the end of our fundraising period (4 days left!) and we really need your help to reach our goal. Will you help? Aren’t you just a little bit curious to see how this little effort can spin such large ripples in a community? Their laughter rings just a bit more sonorous when we can connect opportunity to the children’s natural curiosity to learn. Please help us make that connection."
