KENT from Maine - Documentary Short

For 30 minutes I sat up front in Kent's cab. I felt bad asking him so many questions, but he wasnt fazed, he talked the whole time, it was cute. As he reported back to Debbie, the despatcher, his mighty hand dwarfing the mic, their strong Maine accents in symphony began to remind me of the unique spin on the American dream that has formed in the most northeastern state in the country, Maine.
His beard, his hair, his bandana, his huge hands, his accent, his towering size.
His town, his job, his history, his rural perspective.
What I want to be able to capture is all of this; his story.
Since my landing in America, I've been in awe of the depth of character on offer but it was during my chance encounter with Kent that I began to feel compelled more than ever. 'I need to film this guy!' I thought, I need to capture and record Kent for a character based documentary short. This all sounds a little amorous, but he is perfect for what I have been envisioning to do for a project.
BUT if I'm going to do this I want to do be able to do it right - and that's why I need to look to crowdfunding. I will call on as many favours as possible to save on funds through my NYC network, but as I am trying to figure this out this into motion in a short time period, I am not able to cover the equipment and travelling costs by myself.
Since moving to New York to further my career in documentary, I've been blessed to work with some of the best in the business, listening and telling the stories of real people. To put into practice all that I've soaked up, a chance to exercise and portray my creative direction is the next logical step I forsee.
