Julie's Fight for Cancer

Donation protected
My name is Kelley Galatoire, and I am asking you today to help financially assist my friend Julie Fox and her 12-yr old son, Sammy.  I've known Julie since college, and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding.  Julie is the kind of person who lights up a room when she walks into it.  She's always smiling and/or laughing and I am in awe of her strength.

Julie is a single mother, raising Sammy by herself since he was a baby without assistance. All Sammy has ever known is his mom being sick with cancer. In Sept of 2012, she was finally diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had a tumor that was larger than a softball in her throat that had worked its way into her chest cavity by the time it was found. She was working for a small company that didn't have short-term disability, and had a $5000 deductible +30%. She has had to meet deductible every year for the last four years, because the cancer left her with an autoimmune allergy disorder that completely debilitated her skin. After seeing 18 different specialists in the Houston medical center, she finally turned to alternative sources that were not covered by insurance, therefore driving up her out-of-pocket expenses. She has drained her 401(k) and sold her home to pay for medical bills, and she still hasn't even scratched the surface of what she owes. It is still close to a staggering $50,000 and no one had previously ever offered a GoFundMe account to help her with the massive bills, plus all the debt collected for unpaid days taken during recovery. This is all before her new diagnosis this year.

This February, Julie was diagnosed with Stage III lymphoma which has metastasized to the left rib and again, has a $5000 deductible +30%. She works for a very small company that does not offer short-term disability so she is still trying to work, but it has become very difficult with her current condition.  She has already borrowed against and used up all of her sick and vacation time for this year.

After adding up Julie’s medical expenses for the first cancer diagnosis in 2012, plus this recent lymphoma diagnosis and current medical bills, Julie has accumulated even more debt.  In addition, she must stop working soon in order to have the strength to get through treatment, and this will result in her losing an income.  If you tack on living expenses for her and her son for the next year, plus estimated medical costs for the future, Julie will need well over $185,000 to cover her for the next 12 months just to break even.

Julie’s spirit and strength are a force that I have never witnessed before. She is a fighter and she will beat this.  I know that there are extremely generous people in this world; they are just looking for the right person and the right cause, to give to.

First and foremost I ask for your prayers.  If you feel led, would you please consider a financial gift?  No amount is too small.  I promise you, Julie will be forever grateful and you will be giving her and her son a chance to be overcomers.  Through all of this, she has never lost her faith in God and continues to do as much ministry and outreach as she possibly can in her debilitated state. I know that God will bless her with the resources she needs to get out of debt and to cover her expenses while she's recovering from cancer again.  Thank you so much in advance for your generosity.  Together we can make a difference!

God bless you!
