As a child, I immigrated with my family from Kenya. My parents wanted to ensure a future for me without limitations. I am beyond blessed to call United Sates of America my country. A country that, with open arms, welcomed an immigrant family 28 years ago. A country that allowed me to follow my scholastic dreams. A country that has granted me endless possibilities and more importantly the promise of freedom. This is the America I know and love!!!
As a 20 year resident of Clayton County GA, I am honored to have been elected as District Level Pledged Delegate on behalf of Presidential Candidate Senator Bernie Sanders, to represent the 13th Congressional District of Georgia at the Democratic National Convention in July!
As a pledged delegate, I will be representing Georgia Democratic voters from the 13th Congressional District at the Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from July 25th-28th. It is a weeklong event where the national party comes together and nominates our candidate for the Presidency, as well as sets the platform of the party and begins the process of galvanizing Democrats nationwide. It is the start of our campaign to re-elect a Democrat in 2016 to the White House!
It also means it is an incredibly expensive trip that includes airfare ($200-$300), lodging (Approx. $1460 @ $365 a night), meal and travel expenses. I am setting myself a fundraising goal of $2000. I'm happy to take $2, $10, or $20, or even just well wishes! NOTE: Any donations that are left after being applied to the expenses described above, will be donated to fellow Sanders delegates to assist them in getting to the convention. For all those who decide to donate to my fundraiser I will pledge to you this – I will create an update each day I am at the convention detailing what I'm doing, describing which functions I attended. If you wish to receive these updates, I'll add you to my Facebook page for the Convention.
We the Democratic Party are a welcoming party, that welcomes Independents, Progressives, and Conservatives! Let us unify and win the White House, take back the Senate, the United States House of Representatives, and secure our children’s future of freedom with Supreme Court Judges that we can trust!
NOTE: To all my Kenyan American friends and family, please note per delegate rules, I cannot accept donations from a foreign national UNLESS the individual is a (green card) permanent resident of the United States.
