My mom Julie (left in photo) just passed away on January 22nd. It has been a huge shock to all of us including my stepdad John (right in photo), myself(groom), and my sister. My mom went in for knee replacement surgery on December 27th. Two days later her oxygen levels were decreasing. By Saturday, January 13th they dropped significantly... This was the last time that I saw her conscious. She was intubated the following day. We had received no answers up to this point. She was being declared as the mystery lady... Now in ICU and sedated she seemed to be improving very slowly... On January 19th, right when our spirits were up, we were informed that her kidneys were failing and that she needed to go on dialysis. While trying to perform dialysis on her through her jugular she went through cardiac arrest and they managed to resuscitate her after 2 minutes. After that, she fought hard but slowly faded away early in the morning on January 22nd. We never received any answers as to why everything happened and how we lost such an amazing woman.
She was a wonderful lady who was only 64 years of age... and was having a procedure to help with mobility due to arthritis. Sadly, my mom was on disability because of arthritis and also mental illness.
My stepdad, whom I would like to raise money for, is an amazing man who has treated my small family and especially my mom with the utmost respect and love that I can possibly express. He spent nearly all day, every day there with my mom. He himself being on disability, suffering from diabetes since he was 6 years old(over 51 years) and all the countless health problems that came along with it. He was there holding her hand and trying to give her every ounce of strength that he could muster to help her carry on. He did everything that he could but sadly, it just wasn't meant to be.
He has no other family left and she was his everything. He was living in a basement apartment with her because they couldn't afford anything else due to being on disability. Even though they only had a tiny amount of money left they always insisted on buying presents for Christmas and birthdays for my sister and me.
Sadly, I have very little to give to help him get out of that basement and all of the memories attached to it. On top of that, there are also the expenses tied to my mother's passing... Therefore, I'm hoping that somebody will be willing to help him out in this time of mourning. He doesn't know about this and I would like to surprise him. Any help would ease the situation. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hold the ones you love close. Appreciate them to the fullest extent and then beyond because you never really know what you got until it's gone. Make sure that you always leave on a positive note and say goodbye and that you love them.
