Chibok Girls Head To University

Hello our names are Lydia Pogu and Joy Bishara.

We are two of the girls that escaped the Boko Haram who attacked our school in Chibok, Nigeria.

We finally achieved our dream and have graduated high school from Canyonville Christian Academy in Oregon.

Because of gifts we have received through this page, we were able to go home and visit our families in Nigeria this past summer. Thank you for supporting us in this endeavor.

This fall, we will start our first semester at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. At Southeastern, Lydia will be pursuing a degree in law and Joy will study pre-med.

Although Southeastern has generously provided us with scholarships to cover our tuition and room and board, we are still in need of additional funds for insurance, textbooks, outfitting our dorm rooms, school supplies, and other personal items. We both will be working part-time jobs to help cover these expenses. However, we hope that you will consider giving to help us as we pursue our dreams through attending college.

Thank you so much. God bless you for your thoughts and prayers.

We are praying that all our sisters will soon be free.

In order to meet GoFundMe criteria-which includes a tax ID number-Canyonville Christian Academy is temporarily receiving these funds on behalf of Joy Bishara and Lydia Pogu.  All donations made here are passed on-in their entirety-to these young ladies.

If you would prefer to make a gift directly to Southeastern University to benefit Joy and Lydia, please visit SEU.edu/giving. Click “Other” under “Giving Type,” then specify your gift is for the “Nigerian Refugee Girls.”
