Jon's Stem Cell Transplant for MS
Donation protected
I have been battling Multiple Sclerosis for 8 years and over the past 1-2 years it has really taken it's toll on me. Since March Of 2014 I walk with a cane, I have balance issues and brain cloudiness. I struggle with some day to day activities. I have been unable to work since March. Recently my Neurologist told me that it's time to try an aggressive approach of MS therapy. I have tried Betaseron, Rebif, Copaxone, Tecfidera and now he is wanting me to go on Tysabri and the chances of me getting PML is higher which is a brain infection and it scares me but he tells this is the only other option. My MRI shows my MS has progressed and my lesions are deeper and larger in size. It scares me what this illness has done to me and also to my family. I have been doing alot of research and also spoke with some people that have done the Stem Cell transplant and I have decided that I am ready to kick MS to the curb. Multiple Sclerosis has taken away being able to have fun with my girls; watching them ride bikes with family just breaks my heart. I want to be an active father in their lives but seems like I'm always tired or fighting a Migraine that is so intense I can barely handle it. I barely am able to drive now. I want my freedom back and I want to enjoy life with my family. I have been forced to file for my disability; before that I was a volunteer firefighter for 5 years and worked as an EMT for 2 years with a great company and was forced to leave my work family. I never would consider asking others to donate on my behalf but I have prayed about this and I am okay with reaching out to others. I need help to pay for the Treatment, travel and hotel expenses. Prayers are always encouraged every little bit helps. It doesn't matter how big or small. Thank you everyone. I will receive the transplant in Chicago. This will be a kick MS to the curb event.
