Medical care for John McClane.

This little dude has been hanging around our street for a few days now, my wife Megan and I have been trying to grab him to see if he is microchipped so we can get him back home if he has a home. He never let us get close enough to him to scoop him up though. Yesterday morning Megan left to run some errands and found him being mauled by two dogs, both of them twice his size. He was lying, helpless, on his back while they were biting his neck and arms--trying to rip him apart. Meg stopped her car, ran into the fight and got the dogs off of him. She called me and we rushed him to our veterinarian. He was a brave little man on the way to the vet his breathing was pained but he seemed happy to just be in a car with people who were being nice to him, his bravery was remarkable considering what we were about to find out.
They rushed him back and got him cleaned up and stabilized, the next time we saw him our hearts dropped the damage he suffered was so much more extensive than we could tell when he was covered in mud and blood, his neck, ears, arms, legs and genitals were cut to ribbons with serious puncture wounds on his throat. Luckily his back is in ok shape only three punctures so we are able to give him some hearty love filled scratches there. He's here now safe and sound with a new big dog sister.
I wish we would have been able to grab him on any of the previous occasions we tried so he could have avoided the suffering and we could have avoided these bills. We're happy to have him but his original vet bills, pain medication, antibiotics, internal flea medication because of all the wounds and his ongoing care have really stretched our savings. I'm an artist and small business owner neither profession pays all that well and Megan is a teacher, the summer months are lean for us as you could guess, so we're asking for help to offset some of his care costs any amount would be greatly appreciated.
