Hello, the man's photo you see posted is that of John Corey Wentling, and my name is Kenneth (Ken) W. Gareau. I need your help for John and his wife, whom many of you may know, and I consider a great friend.
John spent most of his life serving his community, in his younger years in New York City, and more recently as a citizen lobbyist for the Arizona Citizens Defense League. He's been a driving force behind legislation restoring our right to defend ourselves and our families, re-establishing our right to be innocent until proven guilty in self-defense cases, protecting our private property rights, and many more, despite his disabling conditions! Unfortunately, though this is a spiritually rewarding endeavor, it does not come with any significant monetary rewards, and in fact typically costs him more than he makes.
John has been on disability (SSDI) since the year 2000, having suffered a severe spinal injury, by being crushed by a bus. He is also dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, coronary artery disease (CAD), a need for neck surgery to get back complete use of his shoulder arm and hand, diabetes, and pancreatitis, and a few other disabling diseases, the list of which could likely make the Guinness Book of World Records. He has had multiple years of reaching the health plan's maximum "personal out of pocket expenses" (Over $5,250 for each of the last 3 years). And having reached those "Caps" does not stop the financial hemorrhaging, since many necessary treatments continue to have co-pays even after the "Cap" is reached! His income is not able to cover these unexpected costs, and the funds raised here, will go solely to pay those costs, and have the remainder of the funds available to continue to receive the medical help he desperately needs on an ongoing basis. Family income is, even as health issues are, very humiliating to foreclose; so suffice it to say that John does not have the necessary remainder of funds available after paying for his every day expenses. We would not be here if that were not the case!
Time, in this instance, really is of the "Essence." John's health IS being impacted by the lack of resources and adds to the stress which is already at the breaking point! Yesterday would not be to soon for the funds to be available.
John is not physically able to do this himself. He gets little sleep, is in constant pain even with medication. We have talked at great length, have become closer as a result of this contact, and I agreed to do the work necessary to help him and thus to ask his friends for help using this forum.
I and many of you, have already done in your lives, what I am asking you to do now; and you and I have quietly and anonymously helped others, when they needed that help the most. By myself I can do but a little for my friend John and his wife, but together we can really make a difference. That is the right and Christian thing to do for me. I hope it will be right for you!
The numbers of those who will receive this message is large enough to be successful at helping John, even if everyone only provided $5.00. Will everyone so do? I hope so; yet let your heart and situation guide you.
