Joel & Jess teach improv in Blk Mnt

We, Joel Nelson and Jess Marie Walker, are soon to embark on a volunteer improv music teaching/making adventure to School of the Alternative (SOTA) in Black Mountain, NC. We’ll be co-teaching a "Transitory Composition and Chance Procedures: Musical Improvisation Ensemble" class the last week of May. We're asking for your help to make this wonderful opportunity financially bearable. However little or much you are able to contribute will be deeply appreciated. While our room and board the week we’re teaching is provided by SOTA, we'll both be taking 1.5 weeks off work (no paid vacation), have travel expenses (Joel from Oakland, CA and Jess Marie from Montevallo, AL), plus a few other expenses to cover. AND, if by chance we raise more than we need, the surplus will be donated to School of the Alternative because, “Currently, all faculty, staff, and administrative positions are unpaid. All supplies [are] donated, and tuition solely covers the cost of [the] base budget.”

We will also compile and share recordings made during our time together in Black Mountain and beyond with all contributors.
