Let's help Jeff kick cancer's butt!

Donation protected
I am raising money to help my brother, Jeff. Jeff is a dedicated father to his 4 amazing kids and a loving husband to his wife of the past 15 years, Amanda. Currently Jeff provides the sole income for his family. He has recently been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Symptoms from his tumor currently limit him from working to full capacity and the two upcoming scheduled surgeries will involve an extensive hospitalization and recovery period. Luckily, Jeff does receive a percentage of his pay with short term disability, but he will only receive those benefits for a short time after surgery. Unfortunately that does not stretch far for a family of 6. I am seeking assistance with donations to help Jeff compensate lost wages as well as to cover any medical bills that he will accrue during his treatments.

Jeff has a rare brain tumor called a chordoma, found in the bones at the base of the skull and spine. Doctors at the University of Michigan Medical Center diagnosed Jeff's tumor as a malignant chordoma and he will need to undergo 2 very delicate & extensive surgeries in order to remove the tumor. Because of their proximity to critical structures such as the spinal cord, brainstem, nerves and arteries, they are difficult to treat and require highly specialized care.Jeff has 2 surgeries scheduled at the University of Michigan medical center this April.

The first surgery will be to insert a tracheostomy and then they will fuse his c1 and c2 spinal vertebrae. Over time, the tumor has grown and begun to corrode the bones in his skull and cervical spine.

The 2nd surgery will follow 2 days later and will be the surgery to remove the brain tumor. It is a delicate and complicated procedure. Jeff will be placed on a ventilator post operatively and will be monitored in the ICU. Jeff must stay a minimum of 2-3 weeks in the hospital. His total recovery time from surgeries will be approximately 6-8 weeks. He will then undergo radiation to the area 5 times a week for 7 weeks.

He will not be able to work during any of these treatments and he/his family will also incur additional costs traveling back and forth to Ann Arbor for treatment.

I am helping him raise money so that he concentrate on kicking cancer's butt and not worry or stress about paying his bills or how he will support his family during his recovery.

Any donations are appreciated and prayers are also welcome!

Thank you for your consideration. - Missy
