Pops was is a very serious car accident early Monday morning while on his annual bike ride across Iowa (RAGBRAI). He was asleep in his tent at his camp site when a truck veered off the campsite road and ran over him. He was dragged for nearly 50ft before being released from the truck. The driver of the truck did not stop and was later tracked down by police.
Thankfully, he was close to medical personnel who quickly attended to his injuries and Life Flighted him to Omaha's Creighton Medical Center. Current injuries include a shattered pelvis and some internal bleeding. He will need to remain in Omaha for some time before he will be well enough to travel home. We don't know yet if the driver has insurance or will be held accountable for his actions.
If you know myself, Josh, Regan or our mom Terry, you know the extent of love in Pops' heart. I'm sure he's helped you out in some way - a ride somewhere, helping out with a move, completed a project, a couch to sleep on, etc. We now ask for some assistance to help with some medical bills and travel for mom to be with him during this time.
Any assistance that family/friends can provide would be greatly appreciated as the bills will begin to start stacking up as he will not be able to work for sometime. He's going to pull through this and get back to his old self, but please any amount in donation would go a long way.
