Heal Jack: ACL surgery

Donation protected
As a PD (pastor's dog), Jack has spent much of his life extending care to others.  Whether it's as a camp chaplain comforting home-sick kids and staff, a therapy dog laying at the feet of someone in distress, or as a star (actually a donkey) in the Christmas Pageant, he is a creature who is fully present, with unbelievably much love to give.

His greatest pleasure is exploring the outdoors. Because his human moves around a bit, he has hiked mountains all over the country - the Cascades, Rockies, and Appalachians - including a summit up the formidable and breath-taking Mt. Washington.

In the last month, he has completely torn his ACL (knee ligament) which makes him unable to stand for more than a few minutes or move more than a few feet at a time.  He now eats while laying down though he doesn't complain; eating is also one of his great pleasures!

Jack turns 8 this summer, and his doctor thinks he has several happy years ahead, especially after his leg is repaired so that he can stand, walk, and even hike again.  He is a gentle giant at 90+ pounds.

Thank you for your support of one of the world's sweetest pooches.  He would gladly lick your face in awe and appreciation right now if he could.

Jack's surgery will take place on Friday, May 27.   The goal amount covers 1/3 of the cost of surgery.

The fundraising effort will continue until Sat, June 4 and culminate with a 5K fun-run in his honor at the Rails-to-Trails path in Vernon, CT.  The fun-run will take place at 9:30 am.
