My name is J.D. Daves and I am 24 years old. I work for a company called Boosterthon where I get the privilege of serving students and teachers every single day. In my current role, I focus on building up awareness in regards to fitness, leadership, and character. Boosterthon also serves as an important role in a school’s fundraising efforts. We are the major fundraiser for the year that works to support teacher’s efforts in the classroom. I sincerely love my job and I am on a mission to change the world.
The funny thing about that statement is that just 3 years ago I would have told you that trying to change the world was a silly notion, not to mention almost impossible. However, I met a guy named Jesus and he completely changed my life. I went from partying to praying and from being selfish to operating selflessly. I am still a work in progress and don't claim to be perfect. However, I now am actively involved in pouring into the next generation and helping people grow closer to God. All of this is to say that I really do desire to change the world…but I need your help!
I believe I have been called to incredible things, and part of that responsibility rests on my ability to steward the opportunities that come my way. I was recently given the chance to go to Kambala, Uganda during July 2nd- 10th. I have tried to fight this calling on my life as it is not something I would have ever envisioned myself doing. But every time I consider my purpose, I think back to a message from my church called #BYSSIW; Because You Said So I Will. Quite simply, I am trying to listen to Jesus and do what he says.
This was Peter's response to Jesus when he told him to get back into his boat and cast his net again. You see, Peter was fishing all night and didn't catch a single thing, but Jesus told him to get back in the boat. Once Peter did what Jesus commanded of him, he was able to receive an incredible miracle! Peter caught so many fish that the boat literally began to sink! That's the life I am after and I am asking you to partner with me on this adventure. #UgandaMissTheMiracle
