At this moment....GENESIS Network volunteers are on-site on the Thai/Burma border building a school that will support 300 children every year.
This project will provide them with the opportunity for education and vocational training...essential, practical skills necessary to create a livelihood, strengthening their future and the integrity of the local economy.
In these regions, education reduces a child's risk of trafficking by 70%. Prostitution is reduced by nearly 95%.
We recently built a library near the village of Ton Wai. During our last visit to check on progress, we were taken over a hill, around some bends...and brought to this:
We were blown away. In a united effort, the initial phase of this structure was built entirely by local communities pooling their personal resources and what funds they could muster so their children could have a school to attend.
Their resources ran out years ago and have since been unable to finish the project. This initiative has already demonstrated personal investment and accountability on behalf of the communities it will serve.

Your donation, together with the donated materials and the support we're receiving from local volunteers, we can complete construction and outfit this school with books and teaching materials for 300 kids.

Due to the difficult environment for ethnic minority groups in this area, social and economic infrastructure is nearly non-existent and unable to support education facilities or programs.
The absence of viable vocational opportunities for these communities creates a vacuum. Lack of income is leveraged by illicit activities and criminal enterprises. In this area, there is ongoing transnational smuggling of people,
narcotics trafficking and the recruitment of children into lucrative black market economies including slave labor and child prostitution.
The knowledge and vocational skills gained through education is the strongest, sustainable counter solution to this darkness. This school is a momentous step in that direction.
What happens when we reach our fundraising goal?
We promise a finished, 6 classroom school to provide schooling to 300 children, every year.

The communities we support have sought out our help and are examined before selection based on specific criteria that warrants our action. Specialists conduct community evaluations to determine the potential effectiveness of our support and to ensure our direct development efforts will result in long-term sustainability.
