Rachel and Bryan are two wonderful parents to their son, Sully. They wanted nothing more than to grow their family and were so excited when she became pregnant this summer with a due date in March 2016. However, after having the ultrasound a couple weeks ago, the doctors found very little amniotic fluid and discovered that their baby had Bilateral Renal Agenesis (BRA) and has no kidneys or bladder. The abnormalities are fatal and babies with this condition usually pass away while still in the womb. If they are able to make it to delivery, they will pass away after a very short amount of time due to respiratory failure. Because of the low amniotic fluid and pressure from the mother's internal organs, their lungs are not able to fully develop.
Because of some other medical complications with Rachel and issues she had to deal with in her first pregnancy with Sully, both of her doctors have agreed that they need to induce labor early to prevent possible life-threatening complications for Rachel. Unfortunately, due to some issues with the state laws in Indiana, Rachel is going to have to go out of state to deliver early. So they will be traveling up to Chicago next week (Nov 11) to deliver their son, whom they have named Isaiah Steven. Hopefully, he will make it through delivery and will have a few moments of life surrounded by his loving parents, brother, and his grandparents.
I'm setting up this GoFundMe in hopes of helping meet some financial needs they have coming up. They are not asking for this themselves - I'm just a loving sister who knows her sister and brother-in-law just cannot financially do everything that needs to be done in the next few months. Here is what the funds will cover:
* Funeral expenses (including casket, headstone and burial plot)
* Expenses with needing to transport the baby over state lines so he can be buried near his family
* Hotel stay for Rachel and Bryan in Chicago since they have to be there two days before the scheduled induction
* Medical expenses related to Isaiah's birth and passing
* I would also like to raise enough for Rachel and Bryan to purchase two burial plots they found right next to where Isaiah will be buried. Rachel and Bryan would love to purchase those plots so they can eventually be buried next to their son.
If you're not able to support financially, please keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers. Rachel and Bryan are wonderful people who do a lot to serve their community. They met and became engaged in a homeless shelter - which is not surprising if you know the compassion and work these two have done for others around them. I'm hoping that some of this love and compassion can be repaid to them for this difficult time of need.
Thank you so much for all of your support!
