Hope for Harper
Donation protected
Harper began acting sick yesterday afternoon, so we rushed her to the vet. They took xrays and found that she is very ill indeed. Despite having nearly constant supervision, she has somehow eaten a coin which is now lodged in her intestines.

She will likely need surgery to get it removed. We've been told that the closest veterinarian that has extensive experience operating on ducks is 150 miles away in Tulsa, OK. We have hope that a veterinarian here will be able to help her, as we can't afford to drive to Tulsa even if our car was in good enough shape to make it there. My husband and I live on less than 1000 per month, so a costly surgery for our feather baby will be a one way ticket to crippling debt for us. I will be calling to cancel our propane delivery in the morning as we can no longer afford it after the visit and xrays from yesterday. We've had Harper since she was a day old hatchling, and she imprinted on me.

We have no human children due to my infertility, but she is my baby. I feed her, change her diapers, and take her to the park. She sleeps in our bed, bathes in our bathtub, and plays with our dog.

We will do all that we can to save her, even if it means going without heat or asking people for help on the internet. Her life is important, and she deserves to continue living it. Any donations to help keep her with us will be greatly appreciated by our family. Even if you can't afford to donate, we'd appreciate it if you could keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks for reading.
