Doctors were forced to amputate Jamir’s right leg in April after an aggressive tumor was found to be eating away at the bone, and he now requires extensive chemotherapy and other medical treatments to win his battle against cancer. I have started this fund to help Jamir’s father Garif, a fellow musician also popularly known as “Positive Vibes,” cover the costs of his treatment which is presently underway in Merida. An estimated $7,000 US is needed to pay for Jamir’s chemotherapy, which will last for a period of six months to a year, and his ongoing medical care. With the loving support and encouragement of his father and his three other siblings, Jamir is prepared and eager to fight – and fight hard. Hence I am calling on my fellow Belizeans, the online public, and the world at large to help bring some much needed ease to this family’s difficult situation. Even at the young age of 10, Jamir had made a name for himself by making the nation of Belize proud when he and his brother, Garif Jr., captured the hearts of the judges at the 2017 Belize National Song Competition. Their song, “We Are Belizean,” won Second Place in the Junior Category of that Competition.
