Vision for the future

I have a condition known as Congenital Aniridia. There is currently no cures for this rare eye disorder however there are treatments for the symptoms caused by it. Due to the Aniridia, I have developed Cataracts, a touch of Glaucoma, Corneal Scars, severe chronic dry eye, and the other issues. You can visit this link to learn more about the disorder. -- Aniridia

Over the years my vision has gone from poor to now much worse. Although I have not ever had the privilege to drive a car or participate in sports, I found a love for computers at an early age and like with all technology the advancements are ever increasing. Over the past several years I have enjoyed a career in IT and have had a great appreciation for computers since the 7th grade. I also love to travel and go camping; just appreciate the world. I haven’t been able to do any of that though over the past eight or ten years though. My greatest wish is to see the ocean one more time before my vision goes completely.

My vision has recently taken a turn for the worse as mentioned above. In fact I have recently had to go on disability from work due to the pain being so intense at times I can’t open my eyes. I’ve missed so much work already and it has taken a huge toll on our family, mentally, physically, and financially. Being the main provider in the home we are late on most of our bills and almost lost the house. Most of the time I stay in a darkened room so that the light doesn’t affect me as much. I feel bad that my family has to be in the dark most of the time with blackout curtains and no lights because the sensitivity to light is so bad. All of the tasks that normal fall on me like mowing the lawn now falls on my loving family and it is so hard for me to watch them take that on.

The purpose of this GoFundMe account is to help with the cost of upcoming surgeries that I need to help correct some of the issues caused by the Aniridia. I will need to undergo surgery to remove or reduce cataracts in both eyes, relieve pressure due to the glaucoma, a corneal scrape to remove the scar tissue from my corneas, and Keratolimbal allograft (KLAL) or stem cell transplant. If all are successful and everything goes as planned I will then undergo a whole corneal transplant at a much later date. The hope is that once everything is completed it will help to restore (increase) my vision slightly but at the least maintain what vision I have currently and reduce the pain and irritation significantly. -- Keratolimbal allograft

I want to thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I truly appreciate it. Your time is just as valuable as your contributions. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask, I will happily answer. I have my next Dr appointment mid-July to discuss and schedule the surgeries.
