House Burned Down, Lost Everything

Donation protected
I found out tonight that my half-sister's house burned to the ground. She, and her mom, lost everything. They lost all their clothing, nostalgic mementos, homework, laptops, the beautiful garden they planted, the sand volleyball court they built, the list goes on and on. They didn't have renter's insurance so they will have to start from scratch and build their lives back up from nothing.

They think it was an electrical fire that started when they were asleep. The fire extinguisher didn't work when they tried to put out the fire. They grabbed the dog, called 911, and ran outside to watch their home burn down.

My half-sister is one of the strongest 16 year-olds I have the pleasure of knowing, forced to grow up quickly and be strong when kids shouldn't have to be strong, and it brings me so much pain and sadness to see her hit by another major life obstacle. Our Dad passed away when she was only 7 years old and now all her photos of him have burned, as well as any physical reminders of who he was.  And since the house burned down on Day 4 of the new school year, she's just trying to stay afloat amidst the heavy workload while sleeping in a hotel and coping with the trauma of having lost her home and every single thing she has ever owned in her entire life.

I told Savanna that she could start a GoFundMe campaign and try to raise some money to buy more clothes and things she needs. She said that she doesn't like to rely on other people, that she hates asking anybody for money. That's my strong, amazing sister for you. So I'm asking you for help on her behalf, hoping that some friends and family, and maybe some anonymous kind-hearted souls, will find an extra $20, $40, or even $100 to donate to this mother/daughter that have truly had the rug pulled out from underneath them.

Thank you for reading this and I hope with all my heart that this campaign can bring them some relief.
