Background:
My name is Sareana Kimia. I am a home-schooled senior in high school from Silver Spring, Maryland. I have also been concurrently enrolled at the university for the last year and a half.
I serve as the Founder and President/CEO of a national, youth, non-partisan advocacy organization, Youth for National Change; Chair of the Young Democrats of America High School Caucus; and an Intern on Capitol Hill. I also serve in various leadership roles in my community.
I enjoy learning. My current cumulative GPA is 3.95 (unweighted). Most of the classes I am taking are Advanced Placement (AP). I speak French, Spanish, and English fluently, and I know basic to intermediate Chinese and Hindi. In the future, I hope to do a dual undergraduate degree in Political Science and East Asian Studies. Afterwards, I hope to attend Law School to study Civil Rights Law. I look forward to advocating for individuals who were not treated equally and help bring justice to them.
Situation:
In June 2014, we ended up homeless because my mother had a nervous breakdown and lost her job. My mom got a contract job that helped stabilize our finances. However, her job ended.
She has been extensively sick recently. On top of going to school, I work part-time to help support my mother and I. The income helps cover bare necessities. We are lucky to be currently staying with friends.
So, I need your help. I need money to attend school and pay for some major expenses my family is facing.
Thank you for your consideration.
