Hi Everyone.

Phoebe Longfellow was recently admitted into the ICU here in Chicago.  For the past week she had not been eating her meals and hardly drinking any fluids.  About 5 days in I decided to make an appointment with her Doctor.

On Saturday we learned she was deyhdrated, so she recieved fluids that day.   We also learned she had a UTI so she was put on antibiotics immediately.  She was examined and did not show signs of pain.  Her gums had been starting to turn a bit yellow.  She got bloodwork done that day and last night 3/20 around 9:30pm I got a phone call as I was walking with Phoebe back home to our aparment and recieved the bad news.... that she's pretty sick.

Her liver and gall bladder reults showed that something was going on but it didn't tell the whole story.  Her white blood cell count was also very high.  But with results like these it is likley that shes either fighting a bad infection or it could be cancer.

I had never been so devistated to hear the news.  I called my father to update him and broke down crying and he was crying on his end as well.  Last night I chatted with some more famiy and a couple of friends to let them know what was happening.  As I tried to go to sleep and snuggle with Phoebe tears ran down my face.  I couldn't fall asleep and realized I had made myself sick.  I ended up being so upset that I lost my dinner.  I don't remember the last time I had been so upset that I made myself sick.

Her Doctor suggested an ultrasound ASAP and she attempted to schedule one for us to get done today at a couple of different locations, however to no avail we could not get an appointment and had no choice but to take her to the ER.

This morning I brought her into the ER in Chicago at MedVet at 3123 N Clybourn in Chicago.  We waited for an hour or so, luckly a friend dropped by who had just got off work to be there in support for the both of us so we weren't alone.  Once finally called into the exam room the Doctors there noticed her sluggish and slow ways, a clear result she hasn't been getting her nutrients.  She again was dehydrated and before we could even talk about getting her an ultrasound it was suggested that she enters the ICU for fluids.

As soon as I could blink she was getting pulled into the hospital and I had to give her a kiss goodbye.  I was informed I would get a call after her ultrasound and get more information of a diagnosis.  It's been about 5.5 hours and I am still waiting to hear from the hospital on any news on the ultrasound.

I'm asking for some money to start paying for her mounting hospital bills.  Luckly my credit card hasn't been maxed out yet but I'm pretty confident I will still have to open up a new one so I can bring her home and see what the next steps for her treatments are, whatever they may be.  Any amount is appreciated from the bottom of mine and Phoebe's hearts.  All of the money will be used immediatly to pay the bills for her care and treatment.

I want to thank everyone who has shown so much support and love already.  Your words and positive thoughts mean the world to Phoebe and I and it feels so good to have such a good community of loving people and other westie friends who are on Phoebe's side.
