Help With Missy’s Medical Bills

Donation protected
Missy the sweet ferret was brought into my home on December 26th 2018 when she was only 4 months old. When I bought her home from the pet shop, the people who worked there told me that she was fine and healthy and she was ready to go home. One month after I brought her home, she started coughing which it honestly sounded like sneezes so I didn’t really pay attention. I would clean her cage more often and try to take as much dust as possible to make her stop sneezing. One week passed by and she started coughing like a smoker and I knew something was wrong. I brought her for a consultation to the vet on February 3rd 2019 to weigh her and see if she was healthy and see what was up with her coughing. The vet told me it was simply just a lung infection and gave me medication for that which didn’t help at all but made it worse. Around 20 days later, the vet and I had scheduled an x-ray for her lungs, thorax and heart to see what was causing this bad cough missy had. When the results came back, the vet informed me that missy had a heart problem from birth. Her heart is too big for her body which causes it to not pump enough oxygen and blood. The heart problem is currently unknown because we’ve got to make more test such as a heart echo to diagnose her with a condition. After I got the results for about Missy’s heart, she was put on a medication to take the liquid that she had in her lungs out. Since she started the medication, she has stopped eating and been sleeping all day. Missy has always been very energetic and goofy fur ball. It is really abnormal to see her like this. She now has difficulties standing up and hasn’t played in more than a week. She hasn’t touched her food boil in now 3 days. She has lost a significant amount of weight and I am scared that her time is soon.. we need to find why she is so sick because the medication missy is on right now isn’t supposed to cause those side effects which just means she is even more ill. When I got the call from the vet today, she informed me that I will have to do another x-ray to check her lungs again which is +200$ , a heart echo which is around 200$ and blood tests which is again, around 200$. When we find what Missy’s heart condition is, she will have to be on medication for the rest of her life for her to live a happy healthy life. I don’t know how much that will cost and right now all the money that I have already spent on her I can’t afford.

What makes me angry in all of this is that the pet shop lied about Missy’s condition and didn’t bother help her or tell me which is what caused to us finding out so late that she had this condition.

Missy’s illness is dramatically getting worse very fast and it is so sudden. Missy should be in the clear as soon as we find out what is causing her to not eat and what her heart condition is. Missy isn’t just a ferret to me. She is part of my life and my family and I don’t want to give up on her until she is back on her paws healthy, eating and playing. I know it is a large price to treat such a little animal but only 1$ would help and we would be very grateful. Thank you to everyone who is supporting baby Missy fight this. We love you all.
