Help Me Fight for My Divorce

You may know me as Michelle Fegatofi. My name is Tina Michelle Hastings Short. I write non fiction books and blogs under the name Michelle Fegatofi.
I have lived in Italy with my partner since August 2011 and since I can't work in Italy until I have a special permission to do so, I am unable to raise the money to file for a divorce myself. I am not used to asking for help from anyone when it comes to money, but I have no choice this time. Currently, I can not open a bank account myself, get medical attention, buy or rent anything, have valid Italian citizen documents, or do anything a normal person would be able to if they had the proper documentation.
I need your help to file a divorce so I can move forward with my life and get out from under my ex finally once and for all. Please help me reach my goal of $10,000 so that I can hire an attourney to represent me and file the paperwork on my behalf.
I am literally in limbo until I am divorced and free to do the things I need to do so that I have all of the documentation I need carry on with my life. I can work online selling my books, but they are not enough to fund my divorce.
I was married at a young age. We didn't have much but we were happy. As the years went by, he completely changed and focused solely on making as much money as he wanted. He started getting more controlling and verbally and mentally abusive. I got pregnant with our first son after 8 years and had a very bad seizure during the delivery. He was actually not even at the hospital. They called him to come there and he was extremely enraged.
After I had our second son, 18 months later, he brought us home from the hospital and left me there alone with a newborn and an 18 month old for over 9 hours. He made me get 2 abortions after our second was born by threatening to beat them out of me if I didn't do as he told me to. He dropped me off at the clinic and left. Didn't even stay with me through the procedure. Five months after our second son was born, he made me quit a nice corporate job making over $70k a year so he could have more control over me. I have so many more stories I could share with you that are just as bad and worse, but I think this gives you a sense of why I left him.
After 17 years of marriage, I left him, my sons and everything behind. For so many years he had been mentally and emotionally abusive to me that I really was on my last straw. I had turned to family and friends for help but my ex was so good at hiding who he really is that no one believed me. I would have taken my sons with me but I knew there was no telling what his reaction would have been had I tried. He never abused them so the courts would not have found any grounds for me taking them away from him. I have tried my best to stay in touch with them over email and the internet but the ex keeps blocking me from them.
We have been seperated for 4 years now and he still will not file for a divorce. He has lied, cheated, and stolen so much from me even after I left. I currently live in Italy and am not able to move forward with my life fully until this is accomplished. I am not asking for anything from him. I just want the divorce, which he will not grant.
My greatest wish is that a divorce attorney from CA would take the case pro bono and file on my behalf. But if that doesn't happen, then I have to do it on my own.
I ask for your support to help me accomplish this divorce as soon as possible.
