Beth's BIG Bills

Donation protected
Beth has HUGE medical bills from her Gallbladder surgery.  $119,000

8 weeks ago I had to rush Beth to the Emergency room where she was diagnosed with Gallstones blocking her common bile duct.  Surgery was the only option and was scheduled immediately.

THEN I HAD A STROKE
Beth's surgery was on a Thursday.  I had a stroke the following Sunday afternoon.  The Doctors, over the next few weeks told me the stroke was caused by my having a rare disease HUGHES SYNDROME

Ian, not to be outdone
WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM the next weekend!

We still don't know why Ian passed out and smashed his face on  the floor - so we're keeping a VERY close on him.

THE PROBLEM  Beth and Ian are covered by a Christian health share cooperative.  THEY HAVE NOT REIMBURSED US FOR THESE HUGE HOSPITAL BILLS YET.

THE HOSPITAL DOES NOT CARE - THEY WANT TO BE PAID NOW!

We have been through tough times before and have always come through them.  I trust in God's plan for us and know that things will work out.  That said ... I'm not as resourceful as I usually am because:

HUGHES SYNDROME IS RARE, POTENTIALLY FATAL AND THERE ARE FEW MEDICAL SPECIALISTS THAT KNOW HOW TO TREAT IT.

a slide of blood sample from patient with (aps) aka 'Hughes'

We had to seek out the best specialist's we could find and it turns out some of the best are at University of Virginia & MCV.

Friends, VMI Alumni and fellow Marines stepped up and helped us get to Virginia in a medically safe way.SO, WITH LITTLE NOTICE WE HAD TO PACK A BAG AND FIND A WAY TO GET TO VIRGINIA.  THIS WAS NO EASY FEAT AS I AM GREAT RISK FOR PULMONARY EMBOLISMS - MEANING:

1. I CANNOT FLY
2. I CANNOT RIDE IN A CAR FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME

TO SUMMARIZE:

1.  We have had a sudden large financial burden.

2. We need help financially so we can pay the Hospital something and preserve our credit.

3. Our savings have been drained by
   a) My Prescription Co-pays cost > $1,137/month despite my being fully insured.
   b) Out of pocket costs we've spent on my seeking medical care out of town for > 13 weeks

4. We are having to purchase items we already own for temporary housing until we know more about my health vis a vie Hughes syndrome. Items like

- towels     - cookware
- bedding  - cleaning supplies

We are borrowing from Peter to Pay Paul!

I created an explanatory video to provide more detail if you wish
