Ariel was more than just my first true love. He was a loving father and son. But he was killed on Aug 29, 2014 working hard to support his family as a night watchman. His beautiful children are left fatherless and his mother, battling cancer is left without her only son. Life of night watchman Arnaldo Ariel Gimenez (40) brutally murdered on Sunday night by criminals while guarding the ATSA II neighborhood, Godoy Cruz, was not easy. 10 years he moved to Spain to find a better future for himself, his wife and four children, but was unsuccessful, due to the crisis in Europe. To this we must add that his parents health, Elio (67) and Dina (63), was poor; his father had an accident that forces him to use a cane and his mother suffers from liver cancer.
Ariel, who was an only child, didn't hesitate and decided to return to Mendoza not only to care for them, but also in search of a job that would allow him to look after his kids 12, 9, 7 and 3 year old -who live with their mother in Spain.
That's how he ended up two years ago in his native Luján in Perdriel, Paula Albarracin the neighborhood where his parents live. He had become their "guardian angel" said Elio yesterday very distressed.
Ariel was a man of great efforts and therefore, had sought and obtained three jobs which made it possible for him to sleep only four hours a day. But had to do it and he never complained. He worked in the security company Escort (patroling the ATSA II neighborhood where he was killed), also in a workshop tinting windows, and as if that were not enough, he did odd jobs in construction.
Ariel had been sick a few days and had returned to the security company on Saturday. Sunday-the day of the crime he got up at 6.45 and went to work in the neighborhood under construction.
The attack
It was 22.56 when Giménez and a companion, Eduardo Fabián Castillo Wojck, were guarding the neighborhood. They then began to hear shots from the outside the site. They tried to take shelter, but Ariel was too late. A bullet went through his neck and out his back killing him almost instantly, to the desperate cries of his companion, who was saved by a miracle.
The ambulance arrived and the doctor confirmed his death.
It is not excluded that the attack occurred because two hours before the watchmen had run a group of criminals who had wanted to enter the neighborhood to steal. The police are treating "Turquito" as a suspect in Giménez's death, which is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office No. 3 Godoy Cruz.
Great regret
In the viewing room Alarcon Lujan, street Patricios and Lamadrid, Ariel's remains arrived just after 16.30.
The distraught parents were accompanied by family and coworkers, who could find no consolation for their loss.
