Heather Wood is a Vancouver woman struggling with Multiple Sclerosis. In order for Heather to be able to go outside every day for fresh air and take her dog Ava for a walk she relies on a motorized scooter.
Yesterday her scooter was stolen from her and she is unable to leave her home.
This gofundme campaign is to raise funds for the purchase of a scooter. Based on some quick research, I've found that Scooters like the one Heather had can be purchased for approx. $2,500, used or perhaps new.
I was thinking that if the funds raised exceed the required amount then half the excess funds will be given to Heather to help make her life a little bit easier, and the other half will be donated to the MS Society of Canada. If her old scooter is returned, or if one is donated to her, the excess funds will be treated in the same manner.
I have a friend who, like Heather, struggles with the extreme challenges of MS so this story hit home with me. I couldn't imagine how terrible it would feel to be stuck in your home alone during this time of year. If you can spare a donation it would be appreciated.
