Dear Community Members,

Our communities were greatly affected by Hurricane Harvey leaving behind destruction and hopelessness.  Many homes and businesses were either flooded or destroyed by high winds, displacing many of our residents. We have more than 12,000 students and 1,500 employees in the areas near Houston impacted by this devastating event.

Please join my campaign to support and share those heartfelt feelings towards our community members that have suffered from this natural disaster.   I would like to see our statement, "Harmony Public Schools is for the community," come true, and with your generous donations and support, it can!

We are a Harmony family. We will be Harmony Strong as a family. These donations will be given directly to Harmony parents and employees in need that our administrators will identify over the coming weeks. We will keep you all posted as distribution occurs.

In 2016, we helped several families in Houston through a GoFundMe similar to this, and the story made the news. Watch the story here:

Thanks in advance for your generosity and support.

Always yours in Education.

Dear Harmony parent, guardian and staff member:

Hurricane Harvey negatively impacted our lives. Flooded homes and businesses, evacuations, fear, power outage, gas shortage, frustration, and tears are just some words to frame Harvey's damage. This time period had been devastating to Texans.

Unbelievable video footage was aired on TV and from social media. Monitoring the Brazos river water level became our daily routine.

However, hope, prayer, sharing, volunteering, dedication, patience, love, embracing the human spirit, support, donations, fundraising, rescues, thoughtfulness and encouragement are the words that describe our actions after the storm.

We are a family as Texans. We are united and ready to respond to any threat.

As our Governor and the Houston Mayor say "No flood will ever eclipse our Texas flag or our American spirit." and "Anyone who underestimates the spirit of this city does not know Houston. "Woe is Houston?" That just encourages us further."

I would like to say Thank You to each and every one of you for representing the true Texas spirit. We are stronger together. We will be rebuild our hopes, homes, schools and cities together.

Thank you for participating in our GoFundMe fundraising campaign, care package donations and for being responsive to our help calls.

I am proud of being a member of this unique family. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this proud picture.

Always yours in education,

Zekeriya Yuksel

Wow! We have surpased the $30,000 mark! Thanks to all of the generous people who have donated or shared our campaign. You are making a difference!

Today we wanted to let everyone know that recovery is beginning. Our most damaged campus is being cleaned up, but we have decided to postpone opening ALL of the Houston-area campuses until September 11, 2017. This will allow our families and staff to sort through issues related to Harvey, or assist others in recovery efforts.

Three of our campuses have been serving meals donated by Northwest Catering this week, and some of our campuses have become central locations for water and essentials donation distribution. Please continue to keep our Harmony family in your thoughts as they try to return to normal lives in the coming weeks.

A quick update on our campus near the Braes Bayou. Here are a couple of photos coming in from staff.

This was our original Harmony campus, opened 17 years ago this month. Thank you all so much for your generosity!

The families impacted by Harvey will be grateful for the help. WE are grateful for our network of family and supporters.
