Rebuild Haiti with FLC7

Donation protected

UPDATE #3 - - -
So we have purchased the mill (Woodmizer LT-35) and picked it up. We are now raising the approximately ten thousand dollars we still need to ship it from NY to Port-au-Prince and to pay wharf fees, taxes, etc. and also to ship overland from Port-au-Prince to Jeremie. A professional sawyer, Galen Kipfer, from Day, NY is making the trip with Bryan to help set up the saw and instruct the people in it's maintenance, operation, blade sharpening, etc. We expect the saw to not only provide people with construction lumber for rebuilding homes and churches, but as a long-term business that will provide  jobs both at the mill and also for independent people who will find and bring the logs to the mill. It will also create a regular income for the local churches in and around Jeremie and help to fund  their ministries to the poor. Along with shipping the mill, we will fill the container with other supplies such as chainsaws, chains and bars, safety gear, peaveys, log trucks, blades, spare parts, sharpeners and also many miscellaneous supplies from medical supplies to seeds. A plot of land close to the Grand Anse river has been rented where the saw will be kept. We expect much of the downed timber to arrive by river raft.

UPDATE#2!
This is the Free Methodist Church of Jérémie, Haiti. One of first roofs to be completed with steel and lumber from the container.
While this is a church, it is used for everything from weddings to funerals to housing people from time to time, as well as numerous services and other activities. The people have been so encouraged by your generosity! Words cannot express.

On February 27th, all the building materials and supplies have safely arrived in Jeremie and the process of distribution to the outlying churches and people began!

Thanks to your generosity,
we were able to send almost a thousand sheets of roofing steel, 12 cordless drills, 50 bags of roofing screws, over 300 12’ 2x4s and 2x6s, 50 “garage in a box” heavy duty tents with sidewall kits, 100 tarps, seeds and more! Praise the Lord for all of this! And again, thank you!

The committee and church leaders met with Bryan and they decided that reconstruction of the outlying church buildings would be first priority, as they are used for countless community activities and services and can also house people while they are rebuilding their homes. Tarps and tents have been distributed for temporary shelters as well!

UPDATE #3!!
SO NOW FOR EVEN MORE GOOD NEWS!!!
We were able to raise enough money to purchase the portable sawmill.
Now, the money we raise will go to shipping it down to Haiti with more supplies!

Spread the word! Forward to all of your friends. We're starting to make a dent here! Our goal still remains and we have a long way to go!

Thank you for your help, your love and your heart. We have "Jeremie Sou Ke'm "="Jeremie on our Heart"

UPDATE #1
Great news!
Over $6,000 has been committed for the Portable Sawmill while we are here working in Haiti! --- Some churches have been so encouraged by the construction materials and have started working on their roofs. Many are meeting under the temporary garages in the meantime. It down-poured on us a couple of days ago and all the church goes praised God for the rain during the service while for the first time in a long time, they remained dry!

Don't forget that we have a benefactor who will match any donation up to $5,000! So whatever your donation it, it will be doubled! Your $50 turns into $100! Your $100 turns into $200 - - - YOU get the idea.

There are no limits, so please feel free to donate as you are able. We are grateful for every dollar and promise you that we're here working for it and working with it.

See all of these downed trees.  We're ready to build and we're trying to purchase a Wood-mizer Sawmill which will include a portable sawmill, 30 blades, sharpening tools, maintenance and other mill-related tools, purchase of a shipping container, trucking and shipping costs, customs expenses, trucking in Haiti and rental of land for storage of the equipment and lumber.

All of these trees that have been torn out of the ground by the storm  can be turned into planks before they rot on the ground.  Look at this aerial shot of a hillside. Think of all of the lumber we could make from these!  While the Haitian people cut boards from these trees by hand, we can work side-by-side using a Wood-mizer to expedite the process without taking work away from the local townspeople.

Here is a link to a video that shows the effectiveness of a sawmill. The difference is that Haiti is in an emergency situation, but this will give you an idea of how awesome something like this would be.

About FLC:  It All Began With Haiti

Who We Are - - -

George Clérié, was a pastor in the country of Haiti. Pastor Clérié had been preaching and pastoring in Haiti for 30 years, starting 14 churches, 5 schools, and leading nearly 10,000 people to Christ. When he died, his daughter Primrose and son-in-law continued this work. Soon after their children  also joined in to help, especially during the many crises that hit this once beautiful country - and now their children's children are active as well.

Lisa and Bryan Bartow -  their siblings and their children - have been boots on the ground through the earthquake and are now cleaning up after Hurricane Matthew.  It's in their blood. This is HOME to them. We're talking four generations of dedication and passion.

This is who we are!

We are collecting funds to help rebuild the area in and around Jeremie, the hardest hit by the storm . . . putting up walls and roofs.

Food for the Poor provided this food to feed over 50 orphans. Full Life Crusade (FLC) paid for it's transport from Port-au-Prince - It's all just arrived at the orphanage in Jeremie! YES! Full stomachs!

Meanwhile . . . This is Kate Bartow - Yeah , the one with the microphone. She's got GUTS - - - read this article on how she challenged the rebel leaders in the community - gained their respect and their confidence and walked and worked along side of them.
