Baby Hailey's Fight for Recovery
Donation protected
Since Will and I became a couple, we knew that we always wanted to be parents. We finally had our prayers answered when we found out we were expecting a baby girl in April 2015! We were beyond excited to meet our daughter! Our precious baby girl was born on March 28, 2015 after a very long and difficult labor and delivery, weighing in at 9 pounds, 9 ounces. Soon after birth we began noticing a variety of abnormal feeding and swallowing issues, muscle spasms and twiching in her feet and hands, excessively tight muscle tone, odd posture in her neck and trunk, breathing issues, vision issues and primary use of her right side of her body. Due to her symptoms, we were refferred to a pediatric neurologist who through an MRI found a brain hemorrhage. As time as progressed, Hailey and I had to stop breastfeeding despite desperately wanting to because Hailey was not a productive breastfeeder, Making the decision to stop breastfeeding was very hard for me but I had to think of what would make my child gain weight. Despite having Hailey stop breastfeeding and put great efforts into getting Hailey to gain, she has still only gained less than 5 pounds and has been diagnosed with failure to thrive. If Hailey can't get the eating part down succesfully, the next step will be a feeding tube through her stomach to make sure she gets the neccessary nutrition to grow. Hailey is currently receiving feeding therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy as well as extra appoinments to her pediatrician for weight checks and see an eye specialist. One possible glimmer of hope for our perfect angel is a treatment called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, which has shown evidence of being able to help heal the brain in conditions such as hers. Although Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has been long used and approved for conditions such as wounds and when divers get the bends (nitrogen narcosis), it is not covered by insurance for brain hemorrhages leaving Will and I to pay entirely "out of pocket". However, there have been many scientific cases where this type of therapy significantly changed a brain damaged persons life. Will and I are asking for financial help with our daughter's medical care because the cost of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is expensive per treatment and would entail me driving many hours per trip and Hailey is estimated to need 40 treatments. Anything you can do to help financially would be greatly appreciated and would help create a brighter future for our baby girl. Thank you! -Will, Katie and Hailey-
