Since 1978, The HERBARIUM has been serving the people of Western Mass and the surrounding areas the highest quality Organic Herbs, Vitamin and Mineral supplements, Aromatherapy Oils, and a little bit of everything else. Our slogan has always been "Much More Than An Herb Store".
We have lectured, offered classes, presented radio programs for dozens of years, and even gone on local news programs trying to educate the public on complementary therapies. We refuse to stock inferior quality products; anything that we ourselves wouldn’t take, we won’t sell. There is a price for integrity.
Over the years ,we have tried to help our customers and the public at large. We have counseled thousands of people on everything from Anxiety, IBS, Macular Degeneration, and everything in between. We have not charged people for this information (although we probably should have), taking it as part of our service to the community.
Now we need the community's help.
The local economy has not seen the same recovery as in other parts of the country. In a world where people must choose between paying their electric bill, buying food for the week, or a month's worth of vitamins, they are more likely to choose the former. The herbal industry has seen rising costs and shortages in raw materials, climate change has decimated many growers' operations, and deliveries can be at the mercy of storms and tornadoes that span across multiple states. With all these challenges, many people have become frustrated (rightly so, we are too) and are choosing to buy their supplements online, or go without. In the past year, our sales have dropped by more than 50%, but our own bills still need to be paid. We have stretched ourselves to the limit, and now we are running the risk of not being able to make the payments and keep products on our shelves.

We need to reach our goal ASAP to get caught up on our most outstanding bills and to pay back our accounts.
Our creditors have been very accomodating with us this year, but the sooner we can start paying them again, the sooner we can get more product on the shelves for our customers.

Who Are We
In 1978, a nurse named Kathleen Duffy took a risk and opened the HERBARIUM, the only herbal medicine shop in Western Mass at that time. Armed with Kathy's knowledge of herbs and conventional medicine, a high standard of quality for products, and lots of prayer, HERBARIUM flourished and became one of the most well-respected sources of herbal knowledge and supplements in New England. A radio program expanded HERBARIUM's range of clientele, and introduced her to Jonathan Evans, who eventually became her husband and the "Voice of the HERBARIUM" on local radio and TV news programs.
Nearly everyone in the family has worked at HERBARIUM, and the store has supported more families and friends than we can now count. Almost forty years later, we are still family-owned and operated. Kathleen has moved on to become a Clinical Aromatherapist, Jonathan is our Herbal Answer Man, and their youngest daughter, Jessica is the In-house Witch.
HERBARIUM carries the highest quality herbal supplements & vitamins we can find, as well as hand-crafted gift items, health & beauty, essential oils, natural foods, DIY materials and more. If we wouldn't take it ourselves, we won't sell it. Our customers and clients trust our knowledge and information, and we offer classes and seminars both online and in-person. HERBARIUM has been a staple in the Chicopee area for decades and generations of families have benefitted from the services we provide.
