Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) said: “Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease someone in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and in the Hereafter."
The Gozman family were literally living in the emergency room in a hospital in Brooklyn when we first met them. With nothing but 3 small bags of clothes and personal items, they refused to leave the hospital and go back in the streets. We took them to our masjid for the night and we found out their story...one of the most severe cases we seen.
Br. Gozman has Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancerous blood disorder. He and his wife, who happens to be 4 months pregnant, and their 2 years old son were evicted 2 months ago because they were behind over 6 months of rent. With no family in America and very few friends and contacts, they ended up in a homeless shelter and their wholes lives changed.
He lost his job due to chemotherapy treatments in which made him severely sick and fatigue and couldn't work. Without a source of income, he went through his savings trying to pay rent and provide for him family. Within 12 months, Br.Gozman has been diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer and became homeless but still had a smile in his face and always had hope in Allah that things will get better. We, with the permission of Allah, can be his chance to make his and his family's life better.
They are currently staying in a small room in a basement and sleeping on the floor. We found them an amazing apartment in Queens in which we plan to fully furnish it and provide 6 months of rent and utilities. We are also helping the father to find a job that is suitable for his health and helping him applying for government benefits.
Our Goal: $9,800
Rent & Utilities for 6 months: $7,050
