My name is Chad Peterson. In the beginning, I thought I was having some sort of joint pain or arthritis. After going to the doctor and being stern that something wasn't right...the tests began. I was at my family doctor and my doctor came in the room, put a mask on me, and told me I was to go to Peoria OSF campus immediately. The tests never stopped. My family and I had a couple hour drive ahead of us. We had so many questions. Did I really have leukemia? After arriving they began doing tons of blood work and tests. I was having problems with my abilitly to move and my thinking process. They finally had some diagnosis for me. I finally had answers. The organs that were affected by these diseases are my lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, brain, skin, stomach, and throat. My diagnosis was as follows: Systemic Lupus Esthematosus, Pneumonia of both lungs due to Pseudomonas species, Pulmonary Aspergilosis invasive type, Pulmonary Nocardiosis, Disseminated Nocardiosis, Arthralgia, Transaminitis, Myositis, Acute Kidney Injury, Anemia associated with acute blood loss, Hypoalbumineia due to protein-calorie malnutrition, Pancytopenia, Chronic hypinatremia, and Anxiety Disorder due to general medical conditon with panic attacks. I was admitted to Peoria OSF campus from November 24th, 2015 to January 14th, 2016. My prognosis was death but, God had other plans. I am now on a feeding tube due to my esophogus narrowing to the size of 1/4 inch. I am unable to swallow food because of this. I've had surgery to have it stretched as well as a pallup removed from my duodenum. I will have it done again in 8 weeks, then approximately every two weeks after until it becomes the normal size again. I will have to have it done from time to time to help it remain open. Many of these conditions will take a year or more to resolve and heal. I will be under a doctor's care and medications until after that period of time. At my lowest I weighed 107 pounds. With the help of the feeding tube I now weigh 135 pounds. I've been unable to work since the late part of September. I have no health insurance, as I had just changed jobs and insurance was not enforced yet. The bills have beome overwhelming and they aren't stopping anytime soon. I will use any and all donations to put towards medical bills and medications. I want to thank everyone for any gesture they put forth. Prayers are encouraged. God bless.
