GoFundme is set up for George to help purchase a Vehicle and also get the modifications suited for his wheelchair, this will help George get to his ongoing Specialist appointments to Sydney and to give him an opportunity to have family outings, which his family can all can travel in one car. This is very important for George as he missed out in teaching his son to drive while he was learning, Now that his son has his licence he can drive his dad around and have that father son bond, which they missed out on.
George also needs to purchase a FES machine, which helps him with his rehabilitation daily and since he has left the Hospital, he hasn't been able to travel weekly for this sort of Rehab. George found this machine helpful for him and it saddens him that he hasn't improved without it, physical or mentally.
A ceiling hoist is also needed to mount in George's bedroom to make it easier for transferring him from his wheelchair to bed - bed to wheelchair and to and from his commode (bathroom chair)
Firstly let me tell you about George !!
George is 43 years old and married to Faye, he has two children Cameron 17 and Jasmine 14. George and his family are part of the Illawarra, George a formwork carpenter/concreter all his life, working for stalwart companies like Wideform, he has had his hands on major infrastructure throughout the Illawarra and Sydney areas. A genuine hard worker, look no further.
On the 16th September, 2014 George underwent surgery on his spine, which unfortunately caused him to become paralysed from the chest down. He has limited movements of his arms and hands. He is wheelchair bound, dependant on hoists to lift him from his chair, to his bed and shower. He requires full assistance with all the activity of daily living. Faye has really aimed up, making many sacrifices to be by George's side. A stronger marriage will not be found.
George also suffered further setback, with constant body spasms which at times were so severe they cause him to fall from his wheelchair, they are like a major ab work out causing exhaustion. George remained in hospital until May this year.
On the 31st January, 2015, a fund raising night was held for George in Wollongong. This night had was very successful, and raised funds that allowed the family to move forward. Unfortunately this night was also tainted with the disappearance of some of the valued funds riased. Enough said here !!!
So the journey continues.
George was last working for Advanced Constructions in Wollongong. Vince and Anthony soon decided that George's home needed some significant upgrades. George needs to get home, to reunite his family. His children were readily being cared for by family and friends. This home needed a makeover. Every family needs to be together. The house is undergoing the renovations at the moment.
Calling out for further help.
Please share Illawarra.
Your generosity is sincerely appreciated.
