GSL's 2017 Funding Campaign!

$2,600 of $3,500 goal

Raised by 43 people in 29 months
Since 2008, Garden State Legacy has been dedicated to celebrating New Jersey history with its free quarterly online magazine and website resources.

If you're not familiar with GSL, check out this video where I explain the story behind it and its mission!

GSL is FREE to subscribe to and is advertising-free. But there are expenses - paying authors, webhosting fees, buying new software. And, as GSL's Founder and ePublisher, I need to earn some income from it in order to justify the hours I devote to I need to buy treats for our two cat!

I am looking to raise a minimum of $3,500 to fund GSL's magazine and website through 2017.

By making a donation, you are not only helping to keep GSL free for the NJ history and preservation community, but also showing you appreciation for hard work of GSL's contributors!

You can donate here or, if you prefer to send a check, it can be made payable to Garden State Legacy and mailed to 375 Mt. Prospect Ave. 7C, Newark, NJ 07104.

Greetings Everyone!

It has been a while since I commented here, so I thought I would take the occasion of the release of GSL Magazine number 38 as an excuse to check in, catch up, and express my gratitude to those who have become GSL supporters! Every bit helps to keep GSL financially viable and continue providing the NJ history community with interesting articles and useful resources - ALL FOR FREE!

I have been experimenting with some new third-party bulk email services. Once I settle on a company, I will be looking into the paid services that will enhance my ability to more efficiently and effectively communicate with the GSL community.

Being able to pay authors for their contributions has enabled GSL to attract new writers, expanding the topics and voices the magazine reflects.

Your financial contributions have helped to make this happen and I am truly grateful!

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and I look forward to another great year of exploring our Garden State Legacy with you!

As many of you know, I have been working on a book about the 1951 Woodbridge train wreck. It is now slated to be published Spring 2017. Here is a quick promo video I put together. More will be forthcoming as the project progresses. In the meantime, please feel free to share this with anyone you think might be interested in the book!

Your generous donations make articles like this possible for GSL! We can pay our authors to compensate them for their time and talent with the money raised.

For a while in 1922, America thrilled to the salacious story of a murdered monkey-collecting circus-owner in New Jersey, his former Broadway chorus girl wife, and New Jersey’s version of Sherlock Holmes seeking to answer the burning question... who shot "Honest John"?

You'll read all about it in GSL issue 34, coming out December 15th!

We have the March 2017 issue already funded, but we still need fund the remaining issues for next year, so please spread the word!
