NEW GHS Marching Band Uniforms

I am the Band Director at a high-need, urban school in Northern New Jersey. Every day, I interact with talented students who have a passion for music. Our marching band has benefited from interested people (like you, I hope) who wanted to make a difference in my students' lives.

Over the past 10 years, since I was hired, I have seen our little marching band grow from 12 students to almost 50! Despite the fact that we have very little funding for our program, we have learned how to make do with what we have and perform at a high level. I know our success is in part due to my enthusiasm for music making; however, I also know that it is also due to the fact that my students have a fun and enriching program where they feel free to make music.

We are looking to update our old and worn uniforms with a bold new look that reflects the musical heritage of our community. Our current uniforms are over a decade old and look worse for the wear as time and much use has ravaged them. We've done our best to keep them in good condition but it is now a losing battle.

Our uniforms symbolize our commitment to performance, our community and so much more. I know that an upgraded uniform will boost student pride and help us to continue to grow and flourish as a program!

Here is what we are planning to spend our project donations on:

1) 70 New Uniform Jackets. Enough to cover the number of students we have plus some growth. ($13,000)
2) 70 custom sashes ($2000)
3) 70 split color cummerbunds ($3000)
4) 70 custom drop sashes ($3000)
5) 40 Deluxe Bibbers ($2000)
6) 70 Shakos (hats) ($3000)
7) 70 plumes ($1200)
8) Misc. charges and shipping/handling will take us up to about $30k

We know this is a BIG ask and a BIG project, so we aren't expecting to make this happen overnight! Therefore there is no exact expiration date on this project.
