A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
“A little less than 6 months ago, I joined Guidehouse knowing that this would be the start of a new and exciting chapter for my wife and I. At the time, we recently learned that we would be expecting our first child in May of 2019, and with this new opportunity to continue my consulting career, we wanted to join a company that honored the virtues and values of not only a growing company, but one that treated its people like family. Little did we know that we would truly reap those values so soon.
Around 1:00 a.m. on the morning of Monday, April 22nd, my wife and I were abruptly awakened to the smoke alarms going off in our entire apartment building. This moment of shock was soon followed by the terror of neighbors screaming, and the rumblings of our fellow tenants vacating their homes. As we started to feel the violent force of the flames and seeing our air ducts venting out smoke, we immediately followed the evacuation, leaving everything behind. As we helplessly watched as the flames rapidly consumed most of our building, we prayed for a miracle. After the firefighters extinguished the fire, we were sadly informed of one casualty, but everyone else was able to safely escape. By sunrise, we learned three apartments were completely consumed to ash, while 20 others (including ours) suffered significant smoke and water damage, rendering them uninhabitable.
The damage and emotional suffering of each household cannot be quantified. The hardest point of our personal devastation comes in knowing that the amount of “baby-stuff” that we’ve been collecting in preparation of our future son was irrevocably ruined, less than three weeks from his expected delivery.
Guidehouse leadership swiftly took action to ensure my wife and I were comforted during this catastrophe. So, It is with the utmost humility and gratitude that we partner with you, to rebuild our home and life together, as we plan and prepare for our firstborn, Princeton, to join us soon.
Thank you, Guidehouse, for truly demonstrating your values to real-life action. We are stronger because of it.
