Hi Everyone!
I bet you are wondering what in the world is G.E.E. Well here's your answer. It's an acronym for Group Economic Empowerment. It's something that I, as an entrepreneur, am very passionate about. It is one of the main reasons I've chosen to embark upon a challenging yet rewarding journey of group empowerment via business ownership.
Did you know?
-African Americans spend 93% of their wealth outside of their communities and that the black dollar turns over less than once on average before it leaves our community.
-Asian dollars turns over 9 times before it leaves their community.
-Caucasian dollars turns over 8 times before it leaves their community.
Keeping money in our circle means that the circle becomes stronger and practicing group economics is certainly an area of growth for our community.
As you may well know it takes time, money, education, and support to start, run, and expand a business. With that in mind I'm asking (which is hard for me to do because I'm a giver) for your support in helping me secure the education I need to successfully enter into a Korean dominated industry (beauty supply stores) and thrive. Even though African American women make up over 90% of the customer base, we own only about 3%. On top of that, I'm positive many of us have stories about the poor treatment and disrespect we've encountered while patronizing non-black owned beauty supply stores. With these facts at the center of my heart and mind, I've sought out to open my own and with your support it can be done.
Although, this is only the first step of many on this journey, it is nontheless a significant one. Along the way I will share with you empowering moments of accomplishment. I invite all of you to take this journey with me. Thank you in advance for your love, support, sacrifice, and encouragement.
