Fresh Air For William
Donation protected
Hello, everyone. I am writing this because my dad, William Etter, is very sick and needs a double-lung transplant. My dad would do anything for anyone, but at this time, he’s the one who needs help.
In 2010 my dad was diagnosed with COPD (chronic, obstructive, pulmonary disease), Emphysema and Pulmonary Hypertension. For those who are not familiar with Pulmonary Hypertension, basically, it is having high blood pressure in your lungs. Due to the high pressure in the lungs, the right side of the heart becomes very enlarged, and ceases to function properly. Eventually the heart tires out and most people with Pulmonary Hypertension die due to heart failure. The heart just cannot pump against the pressures in the lung.
For the first year after being diagnosed, dad only had to use oxygen to sleep at night. Now, here we are in 2015, dad cannot walk long distances and needs a motorized scooter to help him get around. He is on oxygen 24/7 and is now at the end stage of his disease. The only “cure” is to have a double-lung transplant.
Currently we are in the pre-transplant stage at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He is undergoing numerous tests that, God willing, will help him get on the transplant list.
I just want him to be able to breathe again, and to have him here for as long as I can.
Many of you know, love and respect my dad, and we need him around for as long as possible. If you have the ability to help, please consider it. No amount is too small and your help will really make a difference.
We would also greatly appreciate your prayers. Thank you so much!!!
God saves his toughest battles for his strongest solders.
