On January 3rd, the House pushed through a rule change that would fine members for any photos, videos, or live streams from the House Floor.
This rule is a response to the Democratic sit-in on the House Floor when Republicans closed debate on gun legislation following the massacre at the Pulse Night Club in Orlando.
"When the cameras were turned off in this House there was no way to communicate with the American people, other than by . . . the streaming of the debate that was going on," said Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland.
-Protest of any sort should be supported and defended.
-Any new rules promoting secrecy or ending debate in Congress should be fought.
-If members of either party want to protest a measure, their voices deserve to be heard
All funds raised will be used in 2017 to pay any fines levied against House members for photos, videos, or live-streaming from the floor of Congress.
All funds raised will be held in escrow until December 31st 2017 -- at which time, any unused funds will be distributed to one of two non-profits:

If you have a preference, please note which non-profit you'd like to support when you make your donation.
If these rules are reversed by Congress, all funds will be distributed to the non-profits at that time.
