A Helping Hand For Fred

We are Christine Janik and Heather Maglio. We are both life long residents from Wheatfield, NY. Christine is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Heather is employed by Kalieda Health.  They both are raising their families in the Wheatfield area. As many of you know, a fire occurred this morning at Openheim park. This incident unfortunately, was not the first fire that caused Fred Strubing, to be burned on his legs, arms and face. As we mentioned, this is not the first fire that has occurred. Why? Because Fred uses the structure at Openhiem as Shelter from the elements at night. He lights a fire to keep himself warm as he is homeless even during the winter months. Many of us Know of Fred as Christine knows Fred from seeing him at local 711 eleven everyday. Many wonderful people of Wheatfield and surrounding areas have stopped him to give him money, food, clothes and supplies. Heather and her husband Peter have a close and personal personal relationship with him and check on him frequently even inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner at their home. What many do not know is that he is a United States Homeless Veteran. He is also deaf amongst other private health concerns. He is so grateful for all the help he has been given in our community although he never comes up and asks you for it. While in the hospital he will be linked with an apartment and his VA benefit will cover the rent. Please, if we can pull money together to help with furnishing his apartment, and making a little home for him.  We plan to help him furnish his apartment and anything else he may need for it.  I am going to withdraw the money from the go fund me and write him a check in order to accomplish the goals he has. He is interested in obtaining an apartment on/or by Military road in Niagara Falls when he is released from the hospital. All money will go directly to Fred. As a community we have changed his life now we may just save his life.  Please consider donating a couple bucks. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
