Frank's Hit-And-Run Car
KAPOW!! SMAAAAASH!!! Poor car....
My car was parked on Central Ave in front of my apartment last weekend. In the middle of the night, someone hit it - HARD! - and sped off when an eyewitness tried to get their license plate.
As you can see from the pic......it was smashed in back, knocked up on the curb, perpendicular across two parking spaces. And so far, the police can't find who did it, so I'm left to pick up the pieces - no collision insurance, since the car is 10+ years old.
It got towed into the body shop on Monday. While it was getting towed, my toolbox that I've been carrying around to work at the first Venture House, that I had taken out of the car, was stolen right off the sidewalk near the car (but behind me). Pretty gutsy!
So the estimate came back this morning (a great happy birthday to start the day!): $3,300 to fix the car. I added a couple hundred more to replace the tools, and for a rental while it's in the shop. I've been walking or hitching rides this week, and that's workable sometimes, but not always.
Still figuring out exactly what to do as I get more info - but quite a few friends have suggested a GoFundMe, so I decided to stop being stubborn and say YES to the offers of help!
I appreciate any help you can offer!!
If we raise more than needed for the car, then I'll donate the rest to Venture House. :)
